A double old fashioned glass is so called because it was traditionally used to serve a double portion of the “old fashioned” cocktail - muddled sugar, bitters, and water, mixed with whiskey or brandy, and garnished with an orange slice and a cherry. It is typically taller and wider (350-470ml) than a traditional rocks glass and allows for for drinks that require more liquid and ice
